My DuoLingo streak hit 124 today which doesn’t earn any achievement on the app but it does mean that I’ve practiced second languages every day for four months now. If I have so much as glanced at one, I‘ve given it an earnest attempt by completing all basics up to their first checkpoints. I’m proud of this determination. Lately, I’ve wondered at what point it is possible to say that I speak one as a second language but I don’t feel comfortable enough to do so just yet. My skills have improved each day though, with Brazilian Portuguese especially, and I’m excited by this progress.
